This will be my last post for 2008. I will be taking a break from my blog and I shall return on or around the 5th January.
As for the "GOOD ", well my Chrissy shopping is all done, the house is sparkling for the arrival of friends and family at our house for chrissy lunch and Barry has settled in nicely to the "Ross Resort"!!
Barry is intrigued with my eyelashes. He is so gentle and quite a character!
Now for the "SAD". Some very dear friends, the same friends that are joining us for chrissy lunch have just had the most aweful thing happen to them just last sunday.
Their house burnt down totally to the ground. The only thing that they walked away with apart from the clothes on their backs was a work vehicle and one wedding photo.
Thankfully all are safe and sound except man of the house who has 3rd degree burns to his hands after they could not find mr 5 year old. They frantically searched the house and just in the nick of time mr 5 year old surfaced from a neighbours yard. The house is completely gone. Christmas time can bring some rather unsual happenings and although there is never a good time for your house to burn down, why did it have to be Christmas.
On a good note they still have a sense of humour, Mrs Boss of the house was bringing the Turkey to our table on Christmas day so she said to me "Oh well, at least the Turkeys cooked. A bit burnt but cooked"....."Oh and it's in the freezer so it should keep" LOL What a trooper. We will make their day very special for them and their 2 boys. Santa squeezed a few extra pressie's in at the last minute 8-)
Now I hope I haven't depressed anyone with this story but I just wanted to share it with you. People experience the not so happy times at Christmas and it's a good time to be aware that some people need others to make their Christmas a little special regardless of the circumstances. You know perhaps a lonely neighbour or something that would enjoy a nice bowl of pudding and custard and a happy face.
So onto something "FUNNY" to lift the mood back up. My dear hubby wanted to mow the lawn the other day again in preparation for our family and friends and the lawn mower wouldn't start.
He asked me to go down the street and by a can of starter fluid called "Aero start" or "Start ya bastard". I said yeah right!! He assured me that this is what is what called with a grin on his face. Off I went. I could not find "Aero Start" and I was not going up to the counter to ask for "Start ya bastard"!!
I came back home with nothing and said I could not find what he wanted. So off he went. He arrived home with this.
How funny is that! Jack thought it was hilarious. I will be off now so.....................
I would just like to wish you and yours from me and mine a wonderful wonderful Christmas and a safe, joyous and sensational New Year! Eat, drink and be Merry 8-} I look forward to seeing and hearing about all the gorgeous gifts you all will receive from Santa and friends. So see you all in 2009!
Under the Misletoe...ho ho ho “In Stitches”
