Hi ladies, yes I did say that I would post 2 days ago about my fabulaous weekend in Townsville at Tinkers Cart retreat but life has it's way sometimes but here I am!
I had THE most fantastic weekend there teaching at the Sun, Sand and Santa retreat and found a new special friend as well. Brenda from Brenda Ryan Embroidery Designs. Brenda and I shared a very luxurious apartment overlooking the water and we had an amazing time. She is one beautiful lady. Thanks Brenda for a great weekend xx.
Thank you toTracy and her hubby who took very good care of us making sure we were well fed. Here's Tracy in the Christmas spirit:-)
And thanks to Ann for chauffering us around and showing us the sights of Townsville. :-)
We stayed at "The Strand" which was just voted best beach in Australia. Take a look at what we woke up to every morning.
This is from our verandah and straight down was this......
It was a barmy 28 degrees celsius.....YUMMMMMMMY! We went to sleep each night listening to the waves rolling in. I was lucky enough to have what we think to be a "Curlew" bird who thought he was Romeo singing me a romantic tune outside my bedroom window at 2.30am. The night before I was due to teach and after a full day of travelling. Little did the bird know that I was NOT his Juliett. He is one lucky bird because if I had a saucepan in the apartment he would have worn it. LOL!
I want to say thank you to all the wonderful ladies that came along to stitch and who now have the needleturn applique skill to add to their stitching resume, I had so much fun and an honorable mention to the "Noisy Prosperpine" ladies hehehehehe!! :-)
The project that I designed for the day is called "Christmas Cameo" gift bags. Really quick and simple to make which is what we all love at Chrissy time....Tracy has kits available complete with full colour pattern for only $30. So be quick. Or you can purchase the pattern for only $15. You can contact Tracy at Tinkers cart on (07)4755-2336 or click on Tinkers Cart to go to her blog.
They measure 9 x 11 inches. If needleturn applique is not your thing, blanket stitch will work just as easily.
And here is Robyn with her finished needleturn Reindeer. Beautiful work Robyn!
Brenda taught her beautiful embroidery. Here she is deep in teaching mode.
Brenda's the one with the unusual red ears. LOL!
See the gorgeous Santa brooch that Brenda is wearing, well Ann made one for each of us for the day. Clever girl! isn't he cute.........
Ann also taught wool felting on a special machine. It is such a clever thing. It is a Janome machine an have a look at how it works.
This is the before shot
The felting process. Brenda is having a go at it here. And then......
WHA LA! You have this. You can cut it into any shape you want and make whatever you want. Amazing!!!!
It was a day full of fun, giggles, chocolate rum balls and champagne! hic...hic...
And now that I can release my new pattern "Christmas Cameo" gift bags there simply must be a celebration......so that would call for another "GIVEAWAY" YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Stay tuned for that. Until next time..................
